Partnership with The YMCA of SC!

Over this past school year I had the opportunity to partner with the YMCA of South Carolina to speak about BRAVE in their after school programs! This has been such an incredible opportunity allowing me to grow not only as a person but a leader. I was able to speak to over 50 schools and 3,000 students this school year alone! Last Thursday was my final BRAVE presentation and with that being said, I wanted to share what I’ve learned and the experience I’ve had.

Many have asked how I was able to get this opportunity and my answer is simple, resourcefulness! At the beginning of the school year I was sitting in class feeling defeated because I couldn’t get into any schools to speak. So, I decided to take a flyer that introduced myself, BRAVE and the MHSA organization to all the after school programs in my area. After going to 21 schools I was contacted by Jan Page and offered a partnership as a speaker!

During this experience I have learned a lot about what BRAVE means to me and the impact it has on others! I have talked about things ranging from bullying, sportsmanship, the importance of education, how we can be humble, mental health, respect and the simple act of kindness. I am so thankful for this opportunity to spread my own spin on BRAVE, teaching kids to Stand Up, Stand Strong and Stand Together against bullying!
