Hey! So Glad You're Here.

My name is Megan Caroline Grubbs, Miss South Dakota Collegiate America 2022, a current Junior at Anderson University pursing my undergraduate in Early Childhood Education and a masters in Clinical Child Psychology. I truly cannot remember a time in my life when service was not my passion. For seven years now I have been dedicated to spreading the BRAVE and "Be A Buddy" message across the state of South Carolina. While doing so, I have been able to reach thousands of people ranging from ages 4 and up. These messages both represent what so many people have been through and are now fighting for. BRAVE stands for Building Respect and Values for Everyone, and is also the national platform for Miss High School America pageant. The "Be A Buddy" slogan is part of my personal Mentoring Matters platform and program in which we encourage self-love, respect for others/inclusion and goal setting to promote a better future. During this journey I have been able to witness how the BRAVE message along side of mentoring, can truly turn a persons life around. Growing up in a title-one school district, I constantly saw children struggle and fail based off of their difficult home lives and lack of support.  This is what inspired me to begin my mentoring program and advocate for those who are struggling social and academically. During my first few months mentoring, I quickly noticed how most of these children had one thing in common, they were all bullies. They were physically and mentally draining to others. It was as if bullying was a way to cover up the part of their life that was lacking support and structure. I quickly realized by offering support, love and encouragement that the attitudes of these young children began to change. I have continued to follow my students for seven years now and am overjoyed at how they have been able to turn their lives around at such young ages. These same girls inspired my slogan "Stand Up, Stand Strong and Stand Together". I use this during every BRAVE presentations because it is how I define BRAVE! I truly believe and have seen how mentoring can do wonders in the lives of many. I hope that my blog offers you support, knowledge, and guidance during your crazy beautiful life!
