Welcome to my crazy beautiful life! I am so excited for you to join me on my journey in life and see a little more into what I am passionate about. Above is a picture of my loving, crazy and amazing family. They absolutely mean the world to me and have been my biggest supporters since day one. On the right is my brother, Tyler. He is my hero and I am so proud of where he is today in life. I will share more about his journey later on. In the middle is my Mom (Missy) and Dad (Reagan). They have always pushed me to continuously improve myself and have always encouraged me to expand my passion to help others in need. This love for service is something I have had my entire life but did not quite know how to act on it. I became involved in pageantry at the age of thirteen and this opened up so many opportunities. Pageantry has introduced me to so many amazing ways to get involved, fund raise for charities and simply connect with those in need. It truly has changed the way I view the world and look at others around me. I look forward to sharing more with you about my family, my journey and my love for service!

“It takes a village to raise a child”

How it all started

This quote is something that I have always thought to be very relevant and true. Growing up in a military like house hold, my brother and I did not always have our Dad home. My Dad has worked oversees most of my life. At times this was difficult but I have realized that God still blessed us in so many ways. My brother and I were not only blessed with our immediate family but so much more. Church members, school staff, teachers, family friends, baseball family, pageant family, etc.; we had so many wonderful people that helped when my Dad was away. These people have been my "village" my entire life and I am so fortunate. Realizing that not all children have this growing up inspired me to want to help be part of that "village" for other children. Growing up in a Title One School District, I definitely noticed very early on that some kids did not have the support that I had. I had so many classmates that simply struggled in life because of this lack of support. Recognizing this need in our schools and community has been a huge part in inspiring me to become a teacher. I want to be able to not only educate these children but also show them the love and support that they need. I knew this was my goal for the future but I also wanted to find a way to show support now in any way possible. In the ninth grade, I decided to take action and try to fill this need. I established my Mentoring Matters #BeABuddy program within my local elementary school. This allowed myself and many others an opportunity to mentor children that struggled academically and socially. This program has been such a blessing in my life and has definitely confirmed my decision to teach in the early childhood department within a Title One school. I want to continue to provide this "village" so that these children have hope for a brighter future while feeling loved and supported.

I hope that you have enjoyed my first blog and will continue to follow my journey! I am looking forward to sharing more of my stories about my family, my journey in life, the BRAVE program and my personal platform Mentoring Matter #BeABuddy. I also thought this would be a great way to share ideas with other future educators. Down below feel free to leave me a comment or suggestion for future post!

xoxo, Megan
